Join the Campaign to Change America / John Edwards '08 Blog

I guess I have chosen the candidate I am going to back for now. It was a toss up between he and Obama but I just do not think Obama can win. I really just want the field to be narrowed down ASAP so Hillary gets a run for her money. As long as the field is large it benefits her the most.

State of the Union

God- He is still on our side but we may have to ask him again to bless us.

Hope- I hope my base is not watching this or that Karl has already told them that the stuff I am about to say is nothing but more of the same empty rhetoric.

Strong economy = No tax increases - How will my big business allies be able to funnel huge chunks of money into 527's to swift boat any and all contenders from the Democratic Party for 2008 if we ask them to pay their fair share of taxes.

Troops- They are the best in the world but for some reason are having trouble accomplishing this very well defined mission I have sent them on. So I am replacing the dumb ass generals I have listened to for the first 4 years of this war. We got fresh eyes now, so things have to get better. I would hope you will just close yours for the next 2 years while I send more troops into the Iraq civil war.

Cafe standards- I propose we decrease oil consumption by 20% OVER THE NEXT 10 YEARS. Okay, so I will only be here for the next 2 years and do not plan on doing anything substantial, but I am laying down the gauntlet for the next president and will have this tied to tax breaks for Detroit automakers who are having trouble running a profitable business in the most consumer driven economy of all time.

Immigration- I think I can work with the Democrats on this issue. I will provide a path to citizenship for the illegals here now(Democratic idea), if businesses are allowed to use the slave labor for 3 to 5 years(Republican idea).

bipartisanship- I will work with the Democrats the same way I worked with the Republican leadership. I will send over an idea and if they rubber stamp it then I will call it bipartinsan otherwise they are obstuctionist.

Hillary- "Bitch" and she hired an intern to give her husband a blow job-talk about outsourcing.
Barack- Sounds like Iraq and we all know that was a bad idea.
Edwards- didn't we already kick his ass once--"ambulance chaser"
Gore-Ditto "tree hugger"
Richardson-"wetback"
Biden-"energizer bunny" he keeps running and running and running- get a clue loser.

Do the democrats have any real contenders??

Why does this woman behind me keep looking at my ass? You like that don't you Pelosi. That is the kind of ass you get from clearing brush and mountain biking for 6 weeks every summer. I'm all about hard work.

America is a great nation in spite of what I have done over the last 6 years. So let us surge ahead into the next 2 with hope, and bipartisanship for a brighter tomorrow based on the Iraqi oil I was willing to go get for my boys.

The real deal!

This is who Bush reminds me of and is probably what he acted like when he drank.

I know everyone has been waiting with great anticipation for my take on "The Surge" and here it is. I could not comment right away because I had to consult with people from all sides. I had to gather as much information as I could and get as many perspectives as I could before surging forward with my opinion. I wanted to make sure that my answers seemed credible and well thought out.

First of all we can not talk about how we got to this point, that just is not relevant. Secondly, we may want to make sure and use a small portion of the rights points just to show that I was actually listening when they were talking. And finally the answer will be long winded and attack the people who disagree before they even disagree.

Senator Kyle from Arizona on Meet the Press said he does not know how people could attack the plan before it was announced.
---Hey dumbass, everyone reported the plan before Bush actually said it. Everyone knows that this President never changes his mind no matter what is happening in reality. I go back to Stephen Colbert's roast of the President at the press dinner. "This President believes the same thing on Wednesday as he did on Monday, no matter what happens on Tuesday."

Stephen Hadley on Meet The Press basically said that the Iraq government asked for more troops so we are sending them. What's wrong with that they are only Americans.
--It is no longer I will give the Generals what they want but Maliki and Sadr what they want. I will sacrifice as many American boys and girls just to pass the buck and also to maybe get ready to re-deploy the troops to Iran or Syria if needed.

John McCain- the surge has to be significant and sustained.
--This guy has just lost it. He will say anything to court the Bush loyalist. All 28% of them left.

Joe Lieberman- He is not worth quoting or ridiculing just look at whatever Bush actually says and you will hear Lieberman say it a day later. Have these two ever been in the Oval office alone? If so I think we may have a valid reason for impeaching Bush.

Anybody repeating the talking points said you can not criticize this plan if you do not have a plan that does not lead to more violence, death, and eventually a mushroom cloud on American soil.

--Maybe since we removed the only thing holding this so called country together we have to let them go through their Civil War and realize that only through peace can they all live together and prosper. Maybe the Sunnis are allowing the foreign fighters because that is the only thing that gives them a fair chance against the Americans and the Shia. Maybe like Senator Hagel said we should put our efforts into controlling the borders and let the Iraqis control the rest of the country.

Bush- They have come up with a plan to share the oil revenue.
--- Yeah right yours and Blair's plan to share 70% of the revenue with American and British companies and the Iraqis get 30%.

People do not believe that this was anything but a chance to get our hands on the Iraqi oil and control it. China has their hands in Africa which is why we can not do anything significant about Darfur. We don't want to make our banker angry or he may cut us off. This war has created tremendous wealth again in Saudi Arabia with the price per barrel skyrocketing, allowing Bush's friends to be able to buy their way out of trouble with their people. The only question you have to ask yourself. If Iraq had no oil, would we be there? The answer has nothing to do with planting democracy in the Middle East or removing an evil dictator. If we are so apt to want to spread democracy and liberate an oppressed people then maybe we should invade China.

We continue to try and assert our dominance militarily and force our lifestyle on a group of people that not only do not want it as a whole, but are not ready for it if they want to keep their women in beekeeper suits. Democracy has to be an organic movement. It can not be forced.

So needless to say, I am against the surge. I am for securing Iraqi borders. Launching missiles from the outskirts of the country into where ever we think Al Qaida may be. Sending many of the troops back into Afghanistan and Pakistan to actually break the back of the Al Qaida network. Diplomacy with Iran, Syria, and creating a real Palestinian state. I will stop the likes of Merck, Eli Lilly, Phizer, Glaxo-Smith-Kline, Caremark, AdvancePCS, Express Scripts, Wal-Mart, Bank One, Citibank, GE, Ford, GM, American Express, Exxon/Mobile, Chevron, BP, the coal industry and any other big lobbyist from meddling in real American affairs. All my critics out there, I respected and listened to your opinions, but I can not let our troops be in the middle of a civil war. If you have a plan to secure Iraq and get our troops out of the middle of the civil war then let's hear it. Otherwise your plan is not valid and you should just shut up and support my plan.

See how I used my speech to set up the next war. Here we come Iran, ready or not.

I guess the pundits and Republicans can say all they want that the Democrats agenda for the first 100 hours is not aggressive enough, but all I can say is it looks like a great start. It also is something that the Republicans did not accomplish and their leadership would not even allow votes on most of the items.

Good Luck Democrats and by that I mean good luck America!

Top ten things for 2007

10. Democrats stand up to the administration for the American people.

(This appears to be already happening, even if they can not truly stop him from his idiotic surge of American troops.)

9. See the Cubs win a game at Wrigley-(Iwanski, I will there in July) I’ll probably have to go to every game in the series to see them WIN.

8. Pat Robertson dies in his predicted 9/11 style attack for 2007. Now that’s irony.

7. American soldiers are home in significant numbers by Christmas. The ones that are still in Iraq are only there in a truly support role.

6. America is the biggest loser. I figure we as a nation could lose 3 billion pounds. (We could start with the 185 in the White House and make him President of Iraq.) 300,000,000 people times 10 lbs. = a healthier America.

5. Dick Cheney and the President go quail hunting together.

4. American journalist actually report what is happening in Washington, not just what they are told is the story by the administration but what is really happening.

3. Oil industry executives, sworn in before the House and Senate hearings. Oh and while we are at it let’s get Alberto Gonzales back, Donald Rumsfeld, John Negroponte, Paul Wolfowitz, Scooter Libby, Drug Manufacturers, Pharmacy Benefit Managers, and any other corrupt son of a bitch.

2. American corporations have to have their addresses here in America so they pay their fare share of taxes. Unions are given their strength back to protect the American worker, but realize that over protection of slackers (i.e.-my mail lady) weakens them.

1. Impeachment hearings are started not because it is the politically correct thing to do, but because it is the right thing to do.

There are many more that could be listed.

Abolishment of all signing statements by Supreme Court.
Adoption of the Kyoto protocol and America leading the world in renewable energy.
A real levy system built for New Orleans and the people’s houses rebuilt.
Universal healthcare for Americans.
Big Ben returns to his Super Bowl self and stops throwing interceptions.
Legislation is written by legislators instead of lobbyist with real Americans in mind not donors.
Not just pay as you go rule but a pay down the debt rule.
Iwanski is beside me with a huge Italian sausage and a half-gallon beer at the Cub’s game.

Off the beat--

Congratulations Mountaineers on a good end to a disappointing season. Maybe next year someone in West Virginia will realize that Castille and his pitiful defense will never bring a National Title to West Virginia. We have the offense but can not overcome a bad offensive game because our defense will always give up too many points.
