I declare:

Declaring that the United States will prevail in the Global War on Terror - Vote Passed (256-153, 5 Present, 19 Not Voting)

The House approved this non-binding resolution declaring support for U.S. efforts in the war on terror and rejecting a timetable for withdrawing troops from Iraq.

The Iraq occupation has nothing to do with winning the global war on terror. Let me repeat, the Iraq occupation has nothing to do with the global war on terror!

When are our elected officials going to realize that the foreign terrorist in Iraq is a small part, a small percentage of the group of people we are fighting? We are fighting a home grown insurgency. One that is growing everyday we are there. As for the terrorist in Iraq, we are doing a great job training them and giving them a prime recruiting tool.

I am glad to see that the House is willing to be resolute with out troop’s lives and our grandchildren’s future debt burden. They are unwilling to be resolute about funding No Child Moved Ahead. They are unwilling to be resolute about unwarranted spying on Americans. They are unwilling to be resolute about handing our government over to a dictator. They are unwilling to be resolute about a balanced budget. They are unwilling to be resolute about making corporations pay their fair share to operate companies in America.

I am going to make my own non-binding resolutions:

I declare that our American government will one day be free of corporate influence and cronyism.

I declare that one day all Americans will have access to a free college education (even prisoners—thanks Iwanski)

I declare that all Americans will have the best healthcare. (Even Pharmacy students)

I declare that America will stop playing chicken with sovereign nations and not walk away from negotiations.

I declare an end to all war. (that’s right I took it off the table)

I declare an end to cheap Chinese imports.

I declare a rising tide will again lift all boats.

I declare an end to trickle down economics, because if you feel a trickle it is probably some rich asshole peeing on you.

I declare Election Day a national holiday.

I declare if you vote it will not only be counted but it will be cast for the person you wanted.

I declare an end to racism, poverty, homelessness, and starvation.

I DECLARE HEAVEN ON EARTH.

(don’t forget these are all non-binding)

Democrats lose by participation

VS

Until Democrats stop playing the Republican’s games they will continue to lose. When are the Democrats going to stand and deliver, is the question that is often asked. Democrats in Congress can not do anything. That is the answer. They do not control anything. However, if the Democrats in Congress refused to debate the silly, meaningless things that the Republican, corporate, right-wing, majority keeps putting up as issues then maybe their message could be heard.

Example: If during the “marriage protection” debate, the democrats all just got up and said, “This debate is a total waste of tax payer’s time and money, why are we not debating ____________.” Fill in the blank with any of one hundred more important things. America would hear that Democrats are tired of the partisan politics and are ready to actually solve real American’s problems.

So the question I have is not when are Democrats going to stand and deliver, but when are Democrats going to realize that Americans do want to hear their plan for a better tomorrow. What would Democrats be debating if they were in control? Would we be having hearings on gas prices, intelligence failures, the Katrina debacle, global burning, healthcare unavailability, job loses, Iraq occupation, no-bid contracts, war profiteering, border security, decreasing wages for Americans, corporate corruption of politics, deficit spending to boost the wealthy minority, tax fairness, voter fraud, spying on Americans, loss of checks and balances, usurping of Congressional power by the White House, over-burdened military, Haditha killings, torture of detainees, Darfur, Iran, North Korea, or China’s slow take over of America, etc., etc.?

It is time for Democrats inside the beltway to realize that America wants leadership not just an alternative to failed leadership. Newt Gingrich said all the Democrats need to do for the 2006 elections is say “Had enough?” I could not disagree more, while the “Had enough” plan may, and I repeat MAY, get us back in power of one of the houses, it will not establish us as party of ideas. America needs to know the Democrats care more about real American’s issues than Republicans, and that we are willing to let go of corporate America’s money and special interest money to get America’s business taken care of.

If the corporate media will not give us the time on their airways then go back to your districts and have community forum after community forum after community forum. Go to the people, and ask them to tell their friends, relatives, and neighbors what you are working on and what you would do if you were in power. Real American’s are just to busy trying to survive in the Republican’s version of America. We need to hear how things will be different in a Democratic America and we need to hear it over and over and over.

Global Burning II

Maybe it is just me but shouldn't most of the population with a heart beat know what a W.M.D. is?

Two people, who I would call intelligent, have now ask what is W.M.D.? I don't know whether to laugh or cry. Are we to absorbed in our own lives? Are we to busy to care? Are we to upset by all that is happening that it is just easier not to know? I am beginning to really believe that to vote you should have to pass a competency exam.

It is a sad state of affairs when a bumper sticker is to complicated for people to understand.

I've never been a fan of Leonardo DiCaprio. I liked some of his movies, but I loved his website. I invite you all to visit it and enjoy the films he has made. The time is now to change our habits and our thinking about life on this planet.

Lost in a world with too much to talk about

I have been absent for a while due to the fact that I do not know what to talk about. I have decided to list what needs attention.

Zarqawi death-Will American leadership force Iraqi’s to stand up now?

Repeal of Estate Tax- Will real Americans vote out anyone who pushes for this gift to richest .03% of Americans?

Haditha, American military cover-up marines killing of innocent Iraqi women and children- Is our military already broken?

Global Warming- How will the corporate right spin the truth? “CO2 is life”

Voting- Will voters actually vote knowing that their votes might not be counted?

Democrats- When will they realize that trying to sway moderate republicans is an awful plan?

Immigration- Who will build the wealthiest American’s second and third homes? 43% of the homes being purchased now are second homes.

Me- Am I really left of left?

Gay marriage- Again we are being drawn into using the rights terminology and therefore have already lost this debate, not that we should be having it.

Healthcare- Will Ahsirt, PharmD. ever get any? (remember I’m talking about healthcare here)

Corruption- Why is it a bad thing that Rep. Jefferson office got raided by FBI? Republican lawmakers outraged??????

Barry Bonds- Good luck Barry. I don’t care if he juiced.

Gas prices- Monopolies can not be stopped.

FCC- fines for indecency raised from around $3000 to $300,000 per incident-Who are we trying to shut up? Can anyone say censorship and freedom of speech going out the window?

Internet sell out- I hope someone will still visit my blog when it takes 5 minutes to upload?

Flag Burning- We need to stop this due to increase in cases of Asthma and death in children due to flag burning-(I got that from Al Franken)

Education- Are we creating a generation of dumber and dumber people for a reason?

Osama Bin Laden- to quote the President “I don’t really think about him.”

Mistakes in Iraq- Mr. Bush-“I learned some lessons about expressing myself maybe in a more sophisticated manner, you know” Wow- 3 and ½ years in Iraq and that’s what you come up with as mistakes made. Thank you for that mea culpa!
